What we hold

Provided by you: name, email address and message from the contact form; comment text where comments are open. Collected automatically: IP address, browser and device type, pages viewed, referrer and timestamps. To run and protect the site, answer messages, measure readership in aggregate, serve advertising, prevent abuse and meet legal duties.

Advertising and analytics

Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on prior visits to this site or other sites. Google’s advertising cookies, including the DoubleClick DART cookie, allow it and its partners to serve ads based on those visits. Opt out of personalised ads at Google Ads Settings; opt out of many other vendors at aboutads.info and the Network Advertising Initiative. Learn more about how Google uses information from sites that use its services. Analytics providers receive technical data to produce aggregate statistics.

Keeping and securing it

Messages are kept for up to two years; technical logs for shorter rolling periods. We use HTTPS and access controls. No system is completely secure.
